Actress and poet Amber Tamblyn was born in Venice, California. She is the author of the poetry collections Free Stallion (2005), winner of the Borders Book Choice Award for Breakout Writing, and Bang Ditto (2015). She self-published the poetry, art, and photography collections Plenty of Ships and Of the Dawn, and she collaborated with George Herms to write The Loneliest (2005). Tamblyn’s writing has appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle, Poets & Writers, Cosmopolitan, Bust Magazine, and others. She cofounded the Write Now Poetry Society, a nonprofit that seeks to connect readers and poets through innovative poetry events.

In 1995, Tamblyn launched her acting career with a part on General Hospital; she has since starred on Joan of Arcadia and in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. As an actress, she has been nominated for a Golden Globe, a prime-time Emmy, and a Teen Choice Award. Tamblyn lives in New York City.
